Here is a map of the Union and the Confederacy.   Decide if the image or term below the map belongs to the North or to the South.  Drag the image to the North or to the South.  When finished, review the time line of events.

04.04 Civil War Assignment Directions

Now that you have learned about the Civil War, you will write a paragraph using your historical imagination to argue your support for either the Union or the Confederacy.

Pretend you are a soldier during the Civil War. Choose to write on one of the following scenarios:

YANKEE

Argue your support for the North to include accurate details about causes and effects of the war and your reasons for fighting for the Union. Describe how the outcomes of this war will affect you as a Northerner when you return home.

OR

REBEL

Argue your support for the South to include accurate details about causes and effects of the war and your reasons for fighting for the Confederacy. Describe how the outcomes of this war will affect you as a Southerner when you return home.

You must include AND underline four of the following terms in your paragraph. Make sure your paragraph clearly explains the terms you use and demonstrates your knowledge of the Civil War.
